The Wonders of Malachite

This interesting swirled and twisted pattern rock is not to be taken lightly. It’s beautiful color often used for jewelry, and the ability to be carved into whatever shape your heart desires, is one of the reasons for its popularity. But there is much more to this stone than meets the eye.

Malachite has been used for centuries for many different things, noted as far back as 3000 B.C. by the ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans for jewelry, ornaments, and when powdered into a pigment to use as an eye shadow, or coloring materials. Cleopatra is noted to have used this stone’s natural beauty to enhance her own natural beauty and was in fact buried with a vase made of green malachite, perhaps because of its protection against evil spirits. If one had chance to be cursed by the evil eye, during the Middle Ages, this stone was thought to protect from such a curse. It was also believed to cure various types of stomach ailments.

The stone has a long list of healing properties, its most important and most used these days is for protection from negative energies. Its energies are able to permeate our Auric field to strengthen our natural shield against negativity. Enhancing our own ability to detect danger and evil to our emotional or physical well-being, negative energies seem not to be able to see through this stone’s shield to our vulnerability. I personally carry one with me wherever I go, along with a Carnelian, and I feel more at peace with my travels. The combination bringing a calming effect on what might otherwise have been a tense time, helping me to be aware of dangers in time to take alternate action.
